you can’t help it. what do you think they just go down to the show rooms and pick out the cars they want for the test? they ring up toyota and smart respectively and they have to make due with what press cars they sent over.

My Smart CDi can easily top 100 to the gallon.

An IQ can never achieve that economy even with a diesel option.

The Smart CDi and the older Volkswagen Lupo 3L Tdi will remain economy champions for many years to come.

Without a manuel gear shift the Smart is not really an option for me. Obviously the outdated 5-gear automatic transmisson is to blame for the high fuel consumption.

That’s right 104 miles per gallon in my Smart Cdi last September on a journey to Scotland from my home in Chester.

IQ= 3 seats no boot.

Smart = 2 seats and good boot.

They are both very cheap to run and thus the expense buying them is not too bad when running costs are added.
